As we close out 2021 and start 2022 here are a few of the most loved features in entertainment the past year!

Movies

After being released in mid December, Spider-Man No Way Home is already the highest grossing movie of 2021. It has a 94% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and is still in theaters. Be on the lookout for an in depth review of the movie coming soon to SDHS Nation.

Another movie that took the MCU by storm was Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Ringswhich was released on September 3. Even with a lower budget, the movie still made over $40 million at the box office. After a few months in theaters, the movie was released on Disney + for subscribers to watch.

While these are just a couple of the most watched movies in 2021, there are sure to be many more amazing movies for fans to enjoy on the big screen in 2022.

TV Shows

A show that everyone seemed to love last year was Squid Games. The show became the most watched series on Netflix, pulling in 1.65 billion hours of viewing in the first 28 days it was released. Squid Games spent 13 consecutive weeks on Netflix’s Top 10 list.

This Peacock Original series Yellowstone has soared to 14.7 million views overall and even competes with Sunday Night Football when episodes are released.

TikTok Trends

One of the biggest trends this year was “Bones Day.” The trend began with the user, Jonathan Graziano, who has a pug named Noodle. This 13 year old pug would start the trend that everyone would base their day off of. If he chose to stand up it was a “Bones Day” but if he flopped down it was a “No Bones Day.

The “Berries and Cream” dance came from the “little lad” from a 2007 Starbucks commercial that advertised the now discontinued berries and cream flavor from Starbucks. People took the commercial and ran with it, mixing it with other songs and dancing to it.

Top Music Artists

2021 was a huge year for Taylor Swift who went into the year re-recording all her songs as “Taylor’s Version” that left fans swooning over redone classics and new songs “from the vault.”
