The 73rd annual Emmy awards was live and in-person this past Sunday, September 19, at The Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles. The Emmy’s honored the best U.S. prime time television shows, programming from June 1, 2020 until May 31, 2021.

Popular television programs such as Mandalorian, Wanda Vision, Ted Lasso, Saturday Night Live, The Queen’s Gambit and The Crown, had numerous nominations this year. Mandalorian and The Crown tied for most nominations with each having twenty-four. The crown took home seven wins, the most of any show this year.

Even though the show is back in person, many nominees also appeared from outlets all around the world. Due to the pandemic, the red carpet was still very limited

This year, most people were back in person for the award show. Host Cedric the Entertainer, is a veteran comedian who is no stranger to television.

“I wanted to host the Emmys because it gives me a chance to thank TV for all that it’s meant to me,” Cedric said.

He is a stand up comedian who was known for The Barbershop and Madagascar. Following last year’s virtual extravaganza, Cedric the Entertainer made the night unforgettable

“The attitude you’ve got to take with anything these days is that people have unlimited choices for what to do with their time,” he explained. “So if you do turn on the Emmys, I have to make it so that you’re not going to want to change the channel.”

Passionate TV fans have been wondering which shows will win top honors and anxious nominees and their guests have been waiting for this night since June 2020 and are thrilled that it’s back, live and in person!
