As the new year begins, we start to think about all of the new opportunities and healthy habits. New Year’s resolutions are goals to not only better the year ahead, but also yourself as you experience this fresh start.

Resolutions can be anything from working out every day to saving a certain amount of money by the end of the year. They are made to challenge yourself for the better and thankfully many of our very own students are up to that challenge.

“My New Year’s resolution is to stop shopping so much so I stop spending so much money,” senior Leah Maxvill said.

“For spring break I am going to Punta Cana for my senior trip. I want to be fit by the time I go and go to the gym every day until then,” senior Morgan Snyder said.

“My New Year’s resolution is to play less video games and workout more often,” senior Luke Thomas said.

However, not all New Year’s resolutions are about money or that new bod for the new year. Many resolutions deal with relationships and if there is anything that 2020 taught us, it is that friends and family are more important than ever.

“For my New Year’s resolution I would love to make more friends and meet more people in this new year,” junior Julia Reiter said.

“I want to be more outgoing and make more friends,” senior Claire Rothermich said.

Some New Year’s resolutions are specifically for the upcoming year, but they can also be used to better yourself and have an impact on your future.

“I will practice my lacrosse skills before I play in college,” senior Lydia Cornett said.

“I would love to work on my bull riding and beat my timed record by the end of this new year,” senior Cole Eisenbath said.

These are just a few New Year’s resolutions out of the many around the St. Dominic halls. One thing is for sure, everyone is thankful for this fresh start of a new year, and  working on a New Year’s resolution is a great way to show it!
