Staying Healthy During the Holidays

Staying healthy during the holidays is a key part in fully enjoying the best time of the year. Being healthy can be a struggle, and it’s important to figure out what works best for you.

Thanksgiving is full of delicious food and lots of plopping on the coach to watch football games with family. Eating all of that turkey, potatoes and stuffing sounds amazing until you eat three servings of every food on the table. Christmas dinner is just as scrumptious with apple pie, bread rolls and ham filling your plate. In addition, yummy gifts of candy and junk food can fill your stocking on Christmas morning. This food can be the best of the year, but multiple celebrations and days of stuffing your face can make a difference on your health.

Physical activity is the best way to stay in shape during the winter months. After a heavy Thanksgiving dinner, try going for a walk or a run for a few miles the next day. Going to walk outside for just a few miles has proven to be great for the body and mind, so it could go a long way in making you feel better all around.

One of the best ways to keep on track with activity is having an everyday routine. Another way to keep yourself accountable is to have a workout buddy to train with. Try to make healthy eating and exercising a fun habit with a friend during these cold months, as it’s easy to get caught up in the holiday fun.

Being healthy during the holidays can go a long way. Keeping a healthy daily routine can help physical health as well as mental. Make sure to enjoy these special times over the next few months, while doing your best to make physical activity a habit!
